Your Data Rights
Under data protection laws, you have the right to request deletion of your personal information. Prograte Finance is committed to honoring these rights while maintaining the integrity of our services and complying with legal obligations.
This page explains what data can be deleted, the deletion process, and important considerations before submitting a deletion request.
Data Deletion & Regulatory Retention
While we respect your right to be forgotten, Prograte Finance operates under the National Payment Systems Act (2020) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws of Uganda.
Please Note:
- If you have engaged in financial transactions or have an active loan, we are legally required to retain your transaction history and identification records for a period of ten (10) years from the date of the last transaction.
- Account deletion requests will result in the immediate deactivation of your profile and the removal of your data from our marketing databases.
- Financial records will be archived and “hard-deleted” only after the mandatory legal retention period has expired.
Who Can Request Deletion?
Individual Users
If you are an employee or staff member with a user account:
- Contact your company administrator first
- They can remove your account from the system
- Your personal profile data will be deleted
- Activity logs may be retained for compliance
Company Accounts
If you are a company administrator:
- Cancel your subscription first
- Export all necessary data within 30 days
- Submit a formal deletion request
- All company data will be permanently deleted
Borrowers/Clients
If your information was entered by a lending institution:
- Contact the institution that entered your data
- They control your information in their system
- Request deletion through them directly
- We can assist with the process if needed
Prospective Users
If you submitted information but never created an account:
- Contact us with your email address
- We'll verify your identity
- Delete any stored contact information
- Remove you from marketing communications
Deletion Process & Timeline
- Submit Request (Day 1) — Email us with your deletion request.
- Verification (1–2 days) — We verify your identity.
- Processing (3–5 days) — Data deletion is processed.
- Confirmation (Day 7–10) — You receive confirmation.
Most deletion requests are completed within 10 business days. Complex requests involving multiple systems may take up to 30 days.
What Gets Deleted?
Data We Will Delete
- Personal profile information (name, email, phone)
- Account credentials and authentication data
- User preferences and settings
- Uploaded documents and photos
- Communication history and messages
- Device identifiers and session data
Data We Must Retain
Some data must be retained for legal, regulatory, or security purposes:
- Transaction records (required for financial audits)
- Billing and payment history (tax compliance)
- Audit logs (security and fraud prevention)
- Legal correspondence and agreements
- Data subject to active legal proceedings
Retained data is anonymized where possible and deleted after the required retention period (10 years for financial records, as mandated by the National Payment Systems Act and AML laws of Uganda).
Submit a Deletion Request
To request deletion of your data, please email us with the following information:
- Your full name and email address
- Type of account (user, company admin, or client)
- Company name (if applicable)
- Reason for deletion request (optional)
- Confirmation that you understand the consequences

Response time: 1–2 business days.
Important Considerations
- Deletion is Permanent: Once your data is deleted, it cannot be recovered. Make sure to export any information you need before requesting deletion.
- Service Access: After deletion, you will no longer be able to access your account or use Prograte Finance services.
- Third-Party Services: Data shared with third-party services (payment processors, SMS providers) must be deleted separately through those services.
- Backup Systems: Data in backup systems will be deleted during the next backup cycle (within 90 days).
