Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can we move our members in from Excel?
Yes. We import your members, savings, shares and running loans from a spreadsheet or your old system, and check the totals with you before you go live.
Does it handle savings groups (VSLAs) as well as a full SACCO?
Yes. Groups keep their own meetings, contributions, loans and social fund, and the share-out at the end of the cycle is calculated from each member's shares.
Does it calculate dividends and interest on savings?
Yes. At year-end you set the rates the AGM approved and Prograte works out each member's dividend on shares and interest on savings, then posts it.
Which countries can use Prograte?
You can sign up yourself in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, with your books in your own currency (UGX, KES, TZS or RWF). MTN and Airtel mobile money and credit bureau checks are built in for Uganda. If you run a SACCO, lender or credit-sale business anywhere else in Africa, talk to us and we'll tell you honestly what works in your country today.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan starts with a 30-day trial, and we help you move your existing members, customers and loans in from Excel or your old system.
Does it work on phones?
Staff use the web app on a laptop or the Prograte app on Android and iPhone. Your members or customers get their own app to check balances and pay, and those without a smartphone can use USSD where it is available.
